Position Summary:

The Media Planner will develop best-in-class media recommendations, buy efficiencies and assist in the execution of media plans for digital, social and traditional tactics. They will set campaign objectives and KPIs, develop and manage paid media campaigns, craft strategic media and targeting recommendations, help monitor and track campaign budgets and performance, and assist in composing campaign performance reports for a designated account list. This role will work with multiple departments and is an integral part of the media department and agency. They will report to a Director, Lead or Senior member of the Media team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes campaign performance on a regular basis to ensure objectives are met and provides relevant insights
  • Builds and enhances vendor relationships and stays current and familiar with new marketing tactics
  • Collaborates with Strategy Department to develop sound media plans for relevant clients
  • Communicates effectively with all departments, Strategy, Creative, Account Service, to ensure the media plans align with the client’s goals and objectives
  • Develops sound, well-researched media plans and written strategic recommendations for all clients on account list, identifying the best mix of media channels to deliver the right message to the right target at the right time.
  • Responsible for developing and negotiating exceptional and unique added value opportunities.
  • Regularly meets with Strategy Department to maintain marketing objectives, strategies and tactics for a set account list
  • Educates clients about media tactics and current industry trends, including traditional, digital and social media
  • Ensures campaign goals and KPI’s are determined, communicated, monitored, met and proven for all digital media campaigns to show ROI
  • Fosters a team-oriented environment
  • Maintains media plans, oversees budget documents and billing process.
  • Ensures timely placement and stewardship of client media buys.
  • Maintains current software program skills and certifications related to the performance of daily job functions.
  • Statistically analyzes results of qualitative and quantitative research
  • Uses media ratings services, local market research and audience data to construct buys across all mediums
  • Review, analyze and provide recommendations for promotional opportunities.
  • Exceptional communication skills (both written and verbal) and openness to providing feedback
  • Identifies and communicates key, macro-level insights within media reporting
  • Implements and manages delivery and optimization of all paid media campaigns on account list
  • Meets with clients as needed to discuss results and recommendations
  • Meets with industry representatives to gain insight to all phases and points of contact in media
  • Oversees and approves reporting and dashboards on set account list
  • Presents media plans and campaign reports to clients as needed
  • Works alongside the Strategy Department to ensure campaign initiations are clear, measurable and realistic prior to handoff
  • Writes and develops tactical briefs
  • Works regularly in Google Ads, Meta Ads, and other ad platforms

Education/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, advertising, communications or related field
  • 2-5 years of digital and traditional media or agency experience preferred, but not required (relevant internship and coursework will be considered)

Required Skills and Certifications:

  • Must have strong business writing and communication skills
  • Must have strong organizational and quantitative/analytical skills
  • Must have extremely strong attention to detail
  • Great attitude, desire to learn and ability to work in a team environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel, Word and PPT
  • Experience with Google Ads, Google Analytics, Google Looker Studio, and Google Tag Manager and Strata (Freewheel)
  • Meta Ads Experience
  • Experience working with programmatic media vendors
  • Google Ads Certifications preferred
  • Experience negotiating media buys and added value preferred
